Blog Hop (07) & Follow Friday (08)

Book Blogger Hop
The Book Blogger Hop is a meme sponsored by Jennifer at Crazy For Books.

This week's question is:
"What very popular and hyped book in the blogosphere did you not enjoy and how did you feel about posting your review?"
I can't think of any popular books I have read lately and haven't liked, actually. I seem to only read some books after some of the hype around them has settled down a little and I try not to let the fact a lot of people liked it cloud my judgment. I just started reading Fallen by Lauren Kate and, even though I know a lot of people liked it, I can't say I'm enjoying it very  much right now.
When it comes to the review, even if I didn't like a popular book, I would still say so. I'd give my honest opinion and try to explain exactly why I didn't like that book. What's the point lying about something you didn't like?

HI! Welcome to my blog! I am participating in Follow Friday hosted by Parajunkee's View.
Hop on please leave comment, link your blog, and follow, and I will follow you as well.
This week's question is:
"What do you do besides reading/ reviewing as a hobby?"
Well, I like to write when I have some free time. Also, I enjoy playing tennis very much.

Review - Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler

Title and Author: Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler
Publisher: Little Brown
Publication Date: June 1, 2009
Paperback: 290
Genre: Young Adult

Summary:
"Don't worry, Anna. I'll tell her, okay? Just let me think about the best way to do it."
"Okay."
"Promise me? Promise you won't say anything?"
"Don't worry." I laughed. "It's our secret, right?"
According to her best friend Frankie, twenty days in ZanzibarBay is the perfect opportunity to have a summer fling, and if they meet one boy ever day, there's a pretty good chance Anna will find her first summer romance. Anna lightheartedly agrees to the game, but there's something she hasn't told Frankie—-she's already had that kind of romance, and it was with Frankie's older brother, Matt, just before his tragic death one year ago.

Review:
I’ve wanted to read this book since I first heard about it and it did not disappoint me. It was a great read that I would recommend to anyone who enjoys this genre.
Anna, Frankie and Matt grew up together as neighbors and close friends and Anna has always had a crush on Matt – Frankie’s brother. On her 15th birthday they finally kiss.
Unfortunately, shortly after Anna and Matt get together he dies unexpectedly, never having told Frankie about his relationship with Anna. This leaves Anna with a secret she wished she could share but feels like she shouldn’t.
The main part of the story develops one year after Matt’s death when Anna goes to spend her summer with Frankie and her parents at their beach house in California. Memories of Matt keep on resurfacing, making it hard for everyone to let go, especially when Anna meets Sam and starts falling for him.
Twenty Boy Summer is a book about friendship, love, loss and learning how to overcome that loss and let go. This is an emotional book with the power to make you both smile and cry.
It was easy to relate with the main character, Anna. She was a likeable, intelligent and realistic character and you end up wishing everything turns out okay for her.
I didn’t like Frankie as much as I did Anna, though. I felt like she was too self-centered and shallow but it was good to see her grow up a little by the end of the book.
Matt seemed like a very sweet guy and I wished I could’ve learned a little bit more about him, even though I understand why that wasn’t exactly possible.
Sam was a good character too. He was sweet as well and caring and everything Anna needed. Their relationship could’ve been explored a little bit more, though.
I don’t usually enjoy books which are written in the first person but the way Sarah Ockler writes made me forget all about that and feel like I was right there with the characters, having fun in the beach and often feeling nostalgic. She made me understand Anna and whish Matt was still alive.
All in all, Twenty Boy Summer is a book I won’t soon forget. It made smile and want to cry. This is booskis more than just one more cute and light read and I highly recommend it.

On My Wishlist (04)

On My Wishlist is a fun weekly event hosted by Book Chick City and runs every Saturday. It's where I list all the books I desperately want but haven't actually bought yet. They can be old, new or forthcoming.

Anna is looking forward to her senior year in Atlanta, where she has a great job, a loyal best friend, and a crush on the verge of becoming more. Which is why she is less than thrilled about being shipped off to boarding school in Paris—until she meets Étienne St. Claire: perfect, Parisian (and English and American, which makes for a swoon-worthy accent), and utterly irresistible. The only problem is that he's taken, and Anna might be, too, if anything comes of her almost-relationship back home.
As winter melts into spring, will a year of romantic near-misses end with the French kiss Anna—and readers—have long awaited?

Seems interesting, doesn't it?

This week's question is:
"What is your favorite book cover?"
I can't possible choose just one book cover and I have to confess the answer to this questions changes regularly. Right now I think the cover of Going Too Far by Jennifer Echols is very pretty.

Blog Hop (05) & Follow Friday (06)

Book Blogger Hop
The Book Blogger Hop is a meme sponsored by Jennifer at Crazy For Books.

This week's question is:
"Since Thanksgiving is coming up next week, let's use this week's hop to share what we are most thankful for and what our holiday traditions are!"
Well, we do not celebrate Thanksgiving where I live but that doesn't mean I'm not thankful for a lot of things. I'm thankful for my great family and my crazy, funny and supporting friends. I'm also thankful for my pets, who never fail to make me smile and for being able to keep doing what I like and for having the time to enjoy, for instance, a good book.

HI! Welcome to my blog! I am participating in Follow Friday hosted by Parajunkee's View.
Hop on please leave comment, link your blog, and follow, and I will follow you as well.

"How long have you been blogging?"
For just about two months! I'm still new at this.
