Team Smackdown

Are you ready for another Team Smackdown? Next week there will be two smackdowns going on at the same time so we can then advance to round 2.

If you are wondering how I'm going to pair up the guys for the smackdown, I'll do it the old-fashioned way. I'll write the names of the teams that won in pieces of paper and then I'll randomly draw names!

This week's Smackdown is:

Team Gale vs Team Peeta (The Hunger Games Series)

Hi my name is Shelby and today my job is to convince you to be team Gale!

First I'll start off by saying, "Gale is the fire, kindled with rage and hatred." quoted directly from Mockingjay. It is at that moment Katniss chose Peeta. I think Katniss misread Gale's personality compared to hers. Gale is just like her and she deserves somebody that can handle her and someone she can't corrupt (Sorry Katniss). Peeta is just too nice and innocent.
Gale is the flint for the girl who was on fire!

Reasons why you should join team Gale:
-Katniss can be herself around Gale.
-Gale is devoted to his family.
-Gale has known Katniss since she was 12.
-Gale is HOT!
-His father also died in the mine blast that killed Katniss's father.
-The nickname Catnip is just too cute!
-Gale has single-handly fed his family of 5 for 7 years.
-Katniss always talks to Gale first.
-Gale taught Katniss everything she knows about snares and fishing.
-Gale provides her with a sense of security.
-Gale loves Katniss unconditionally.
-He kissed her on one of their hunting Sundays.
-Katniss kissed Gale shortly after he was whipped unconscious.
-Gale saved people from district 12 before it was bombed.
-He was nice enough to volunteer to go in and get Peeta from their capital.
-Gale kept to his pact feeding Katniss's family when she left for the hunger games.
-They were so close that he was her pretend cousin.
-When Gale went to work in the mines Gale wouldn't except a dime from Katniss.
-Katniss fed Gale's family anyway.
-Katniss and Gale would do anything for each other.

Team Peeta - The Hunger Games Series by Suzanne Collins

Name: Peeta Mellark

Age: 16

"Peeta has bright blue eyes and blonde hair, like most families who live in town. Katniss describes him as Stocky build and medium height with bright blue eyes and ashey blonde hair that falls in waves over his forehead."

Peeta is gentle and kind, but when he is threatened, he fights well. He's willing to do anything to protect the girl he loves.

“He said, ‘See that little girl? I wanted to marry her mother, but she ran off with a coal miner,’” Peeta says.

“What? You’re making that up!” I exclaim.

“No, true story,” Peeta says. “And I said, ‘A coal miner? Why did she want a coal miner if she could’ve had you?’ And he said, ‘Because when he sings . . . even the birds stop to listen.’”

“That’s true. They do. I mean, they did,” I say. I’m stunned and surprisingly moved, thinking of the baker telling this to Peeta. It strikes me that my own reluctance to sing, my own dismissal of music might not really be that I think it’s a waste of time. It might be because it reminds me too much of my father.

“So that day, in music assembly, the teacher asked who knew the valley song. Your hand shot right up in the air. She stood you up on a stool and had you sing it for us. And I swear, every bird outside the windows fell silent,” Peeta says.

“Oh, please,” I say, laughing.

“No, it happened. And right when your song ended, I knew — just like your mother — I was a goner,” Peeta says. “Then for the next eleven years, I tried to work up the nerve to talk to you.”

“Without success,” I add.

Without success. So, in a way, my name being drawn in the reaping was a real piece of luck,” says Peeta.
