Last week I asked you to let me know what your favorite authors are! Are you curious?
According to the votes received your favorite authors are:
(Click on the image to be taken to goodreads)
10 - Scott Westerfeld
"Scott Westerfeld is a New York Times bestselling American-born author of YA sci-fi literature.
His book Evolution's Darling was a New York Times Notable Book, and won a Special Citation for the 2000 Philip K. Dick Award. So Yesterday won a Victorian Premier's Award and Midnighters 1: The Secret Hour won an Aurealis Award. Peeps and Uglies were both named as Best Books for Young Adults 2006 by the American Library Association."
As I said the week before, I haven't read any book by Scott Westerfeld yet but his Uglies series seem very interesting.
9 - Tie between Stephenie Meyer and Meg Cabot
"Stephenie Meyer is an American writer, widelty knows for her vampire romance series Twilight."
Who hasn't, at least, heard about Twilight? Wether you love it or hate it, Stephenie Meyer has sucedded in creating one of the most famous YA Paranormal series out there and I'll confess I'm glad for Edward Cullen. :)
"Meg Cabot has written novels for young adults, mysteries, and historical romances. Cabot is best known as the author of The Princess Diaries, the story of a teenage girl whose rather ordinary life changes the day she learns she has been born into royalty."
I think the first book I read by Meg Cabot was Nicola and the Viscount and I loved it at the time.
8 - J. R. R. Tolkien
"John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, CBE, was an English writer, poet, philologist, and university professor, best known as the author of the high fantasy classic works The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings." No favorite authors list can, in my opinion, be complete without J. R. R. Tolkien. The author of The Lord of The Rings series created an incredible adventure, an amazing world and equaly amazing characters.
If you haven't read at least one of his books, what are you waiting for? I'm sure you'll, at least, be amazed by Tolkien's imagination.
7 - Maggie Stiefvater
"Maggie Stiefvater is a bestselling American author of young-adult/urban fantasy novels."
Any Young Adult and Paranormal fan has probably already heard about the The Wolves of Mercy Falls series.
The series is a different take on werewolves that I think can please fans of the genre.
6 - Jane Austen
"Jane Austen was an English writer. Although Austen was widely read in her lifetime, she published her works anonymously under the name 'By a Lady'."
Jane Austen is one of my favorite authors so I'm glad she's in this list.
Pride and Prejudice is probably her most famous work but, if you are a fan of the classics, I would recommend reading Persuassion and Sense and Sensibility.
5 - Sarah Dessen
Sarah Dessen is a well-known American best-sellign author of Young Adult books like Along for the Ride, The Truth about Forever and the recently released What Happened to Goodbye.
I think most YA fans enjoy reading a book by Sarah Dessen every now and then, no? Her books are fun and touching.
Sarah Dessen is a solid write, who doesn't dissappoint.
4 - Cassandra Clare
"Cassandra Clare made her fiction debut with The Mortal Instruments series, which has been on many bestseller lists." That is definitely true, isn't it? The Mortal Instruments series has become incredibly popular.
Cassandra Clare has created a very interesting world where adventure, mystery and romance are always present.
3 - Richelle Mead
"Richelle Mead is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of urban fantasy books for both adults and teens."
I'll go ahead and confess I haven't read anything written by Richelle Mead (no, not even a Vampire Academy story). I guess I'll definitely have to change this now.
A lot of people seem to love Richelle Mead as a written and I'm sure that's because she has been able to create interesting characters and an equally interesting story.
2 - Suzanne Collins
"Suzanne Collins is the author of the New York Times bestselling Underland Chronicles series, which has more than one million books in print and is available in seven foreign editions. In the award-winning THE HUNGER GAMES, for which rights have been sold for 35 foreign language editions to date, Collins continues to explore the effects of war and violence on those coming of age."
Who hasn't at least heard about The Hunger Games series? Action, adventure and romance as well as Suzanne Collins' ability to draw into a very intriguing world has made this series immensely popular.
If you haven't yet, you should go read one of her books.
1 - J. K. Rowling
"J.K. Rowling (Joanne "Jo" Rowling) is the writer behind the bestselling "Harry Potter" series. The Potter books have gained worldwide attention, won multiple awards, sold more than 400 million copies and been the basis for a popular series of films."
Are you surprised J. K. Rowling is number one? I’m definitely not.
If you have read Harry Potter you understand why J. K. Rowling is many people's favorite author. The magic world she created is just that... magic! Plus, her characters are amazingly well developed and interesting.
J. K. Rowling is definitely a winner!
So, did this list surprise you? Do you agree with it or not really?
I would love to know what you think.
