Summary:
DESTRUCTION
The Year of Souls begins with an earthquake—an alarming rumble from deep within the earth—and it’s only the first of greater dangers to come. The Range caldera is preparing to erupt. Ana knows that as Soul Night approaches, everything near Heart will be at risk.
FLIGHT
Ana’s exile is frightening, but it may also be fortuitous, especially if she can convince her friends to flee Heart and Range with her. They’ll go north, seeking answers and allies to stop Janan’s ascension. And with any luck, the newsouls will be safe from harm’s reach.
CHOICE
The oldsouls might have forgotten the choice they made to give themselves limitless lifetimes, but Ana knows the true cost of reincarnation. What she doesn’t know is whether she’ll have the chance to finish this one sweet life with Sam, especially if she returns to Heart to stop Janan once and for all.
With gorgeous romance and thrilling action, the final book in the Incarnate trilogy offers a brilliant conclusion to the compelling questions of this fascinating world, where one new girl is the key to the lives of millions.

Review:
After reading Incarnate and Asunder, I just had to know how Ana and Sam’s story would end. I have enjoyed this series from the start and I was hoping this characters would have their happily ever after.
Infinite did not disappoint me at all! It picks up were Asunder ended.
The battle to stop Janan reaches its climax and chances of survival are dim. Will Ana and Sam be able to stop Janan or will they fail and lose all hope for a free future?
I still like the characters in this book quite a lot and was happy to read about them once more. Ana is a good main character and is easy to like her and understand why she feels and acts the way she does. She’s brave and smart and always willing to sacrifice herself to keep Janan from ascending.
Sam is as sweet and charming as ever. He’s wise and I love the fact he believes in Anna and trusts in her abilities.
The sweet, musical and romantic moments between Ana and Sam are very well-written and simply great, and so are the tenser moments.
All the secondary characters like Sarit, Stef and Armande also show up in this book and all of them have something to bring to the story. As do a few creatures like the dragons! J
I did quite enjoy Infinite and think it’s a great end to the series. Jodi Meadows did a great job making the story different, interesting and full adventure and romance.
If you haven’t started this series yet, you definitely should.

Review - Asunder (Newsoul 02) by Jodi Meadows

Title and Author: Asunder (Newsoul 02) by Jodi Meadows
Publisher: Katherine Tegen Books
Publication Date: January 29th, 2013
Paperback/Hardcover: 406
Genre: Young Adult, Paranormal
Find it at: Goodreads / Bookdepository

Summary:
DARKSOULS
Ana has always been the only one. Asunder. Apart. But after Templedark, when many residents of Heart were lost forever, some hold Ana responsible for the darksouls–and the newsouls who may be born in their place.
SHADOWS
Many are afraid of Ana’s presence, a constant reminder of unstoppable changes and the unknown. When sylph begin behaving differently toward her and people turn violent, Ana must learn to stand up not only for herself but for those who cannot stand up for themselves.
LOVE
Ana was told that nosouls can’t love. But newsouls? More than anything, she wants to live and love as an equal among the citizens of Heart, but even when Sam professes his deepest feelings, it seems impossible to overcome a lifetime of rejection.

Review:
After having read Incarnate and enjoying it I had to read Asunder. I was curious and wanted to know what would happen to Ana and Sam and everyone else.
As a newsoul Ana is different from everyone else in Heart and not everyone accepts her. Add this to the fact that sylph start to behave differently toward her and that some things are changing in the city and is no wonder there are some people who want to see Ana hurt if not dead.
The main characters from Incarnate are back and some of them, like Ana, are still growing and changing. She’s determined to change the course of things, to show people that only because she’s different it doesn’t mean she’s less than they are, to face down her own fears. She takes action in this book and tries to unravel some mysteries instead of just wondering about them, which I really enjoyed.
Sam is still very sweet and supportive of Ana. He’s not always completely sure his decisions are the right ones and struggles with it sometimes. It is obvious Sam loves Ana and would do anything to protect her but, thankfully, he never tries to stop her from searching for the answers she needs.
There are some sweet and romantic moments between Ana and Sam. There are also some tense moments and conflict between them, which I think was great because no relationship is perfect and you can’t always agree with each other.
In this book we get to see another side of some characters like Stef and are introduced to some new characters as well.
Plotwise, it moves along nicely and is very well-written. The world created by Jodi Meadows in Incarnate is very interesting and it’s explored in this book.
What I really enjoyed in this book is that we get to learn a little bit more not only about Ana but also about Sam and his past lives and also about Heart, Janan and the creatures that inhabit Range.  I had a lot of questions and some of them were answered in this book. Other I think will only be answered in book three but I really don’t mind the mystery and I enjoy the way it is being slowly revealed.
All in all, I really enjoyed this book. The characters are good and the story interesting and well-written. I enjoyed the fact we get to understand a few things a little bit better in this book – like the sylph. There’s still a big mystery left to be unraveled and I can’t wait to know what will happen next.
If you enjoyed a good YA Paranormal story, go on and give this series a chance!

Interview with Jodi Meadows about the NewSoul Series

Interview with Jodi Meadows about the NewSoul Series

Jodi Meadows was kind enough to answer a few of my questions about The NewSoul Series.
I hope you enjoy this interview!

Thank you, Jodi!

1 – What inspired you to write The NewSoul series?
This is a long story involving a ferret, a hurricane, and a time: machine. I can't go into it now, but my future self says we talk about it eventually.

2 - Can you tell us something we might not know about the series or the characters?
There's a character coming up in ASUNDER who looks like a young James Marsters. (He played Spike on BUFFY: TVS.) Gratuitous picture: http://www.sharewallpapers.org/d/24182-2/James+Marsters+010.jpg

3 - Who would you say is the hardest character, from the series, to write about? Why?
Ana and Sam were both difficult in their own ways.
Ana has such a hard time trusting people -- and with good reason -- and her past is so horrible. Emotionally it was very hard to write from her point of view.
Sam, on the other hand, was difficult to write because I've never been a super old reincarnated person before. I had to put a lot of consideration into his thought process and why he behaved certain ways.

4 - If you had to choose your favorite thing about the NewSoul series, what would that be?
While a lot of bad things happen in the trilogy -- as things are wont do in fiction -- I think there's an underlying message of hope and love. That would have to be my favorite thing.

5 - In your opinion what makes a great book heroine? And a hero?
For me, great heroines are proactive, overall good, and at least occasionally thoughtful. I don't think she needs to be perfect -- indeed I hope she isn't! -- but she needs to have redeeming qualities and take an active part in her own life.
And I'd have to say the same thing for the hero, too.

6 – The second book in the series, Asunder, will be published next year. Can you let us know something about it? :)
The sylph play a big role in the story -- much bigger than in INCARNATE. There's also a scene that everyone has squicked about. You'll know it when you see it.

7 – Is there something else you would like your readers to know about you and the NewSoul series?
The answer to the first question might be a lie.
