Review:
I received this book from the auhtor in exchange of an honest review and what a sweet book it is.
Sweetness is the story of two teenagers who have been emotianlly scarred by events in their pasts they feel responsible for. Emily thinks she’s not worthy of love but Jack is determined to prove her wrong while coming to terms with his own guilt.
Emily and Jake are great and well-developed main characters. Emily goes through life struggling with the trauma of being constantly verbally abused by her mother. She’s a loner and does her best to isolate herself from any and everyone. She’s caring and smart, though.
Jake seems to have it all – he’s handsome, he’s popular and he’s a star athelete – but he’s actually dealing with a lot of family drama. He’s also very sweet and caring as well.
I think Emily and Jake really were perfect for each other. Jack is so dedicated to Emily and making her smile. They really are two great kids forced to deal with issues that make them feel alone, unloved and scared. There are some great sweet and ternder moments between this two that I relly enjoyed.
All the other characters were veyr well-developed as well and brouht a lot to the story, especially because Emily and Jake’s family are a big part of the book.
All in all, this is a sweet story that deals with some interesting and important issues. Ther romance is great and the characters are well-developed.
The book needs a little editing but nothign major.
If you like Young Adult books, I think you might enjoy this story.
