Review - Days of Vengeance by Tim Kizer

Title and Author: Days of Vengeance by Tim Kizer
Publisher: Kindle Edition
Publication Date: January 2nd, 2012
Paperback/Hardcover:
Genre: Horror, Mystery

Summary:
With the last six years of his life wiped out of his memory, Frank suspects he may have murdered his wife Kelly, who vanished three days before the car crash that caused his amnesia. While struggling to remember Kelly and the events surrounding her disappearance, Frank is shocked to find out that his wife's family has the same suspicions as he does.
As memories trickle back to him, Frank is still unable to figure out why he slaughtered Kelly and what happened to his accomplice. He is not even sure he has nothing to do with the disappearance of his young daughter, who went missing a few months earlier.

Things take a darker turn when Frank realizes that his vindictive in-laws will stop at nothing to make him remember what he has done to their beloved sister. The situation gets even more complicated as an anonymous blackmailer accuses Frank of the murder and demands money to keep his mouth shut.
Frank's search for answers becomes a fight for survival after he rediscovers that his wife's relatives are a clique of bloodthirsty serial kidnappers serving a mysterious one-legged man. His chances of prevailing are slim: one of the in-laws is a cop and another is a multimillionaire.
However, the question still remains: Why are these people so hell-bent on getting hold of Kelly's dead body?
His options are limited: he either finds his wife--dead or alive--or dies. In his race against time Frank has all the clues to the puzzle, he just needs to remember them before itÆs too late.
Unfortunately, Frank has no idea that he is in for the biggest shock of his life...

Review:
I received this book from the author in exchange of an honest review. It’s easy to get caught up in this book and want to keep reading until all the secrets have been revealed.
Days of Vengeance is about Frank, a thirty-something man, whose wife went missing under very suspicious circumstances.  A few days after his wife went missing Frank was involved in a car accident and lost his memory. Has Frank killed his wife? He doesn’t know, but the fact is: there’s someone blackmailing him about it.
I must confess I still don’t know how I feel about Frank. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt, especially because I had the feeling his wife had a few secrets of her own, but I could never really like or sympathize with him. I think he lacked a little personality.
You really have to pay attention while reading this book because there are a lot of little details and clues that are revealed as the story develops. These clues are important when it comes to putting together the big secret.
There are also a lot of interesting twists in this book, which I’m all for!
All in all, I did enjoy this book. The plot and story are very interesting and made me want to finish the book fast so I could find out exactly what was going on.
I couldn’t seem to really connect with the characters but I liked the fact that, little by little, the reader discovers what happened before and also after Kelly’s disappearance and that the clues lead to the big twist at the end.
Days of Vengeance is well-written, fast paced and there are some interesting plot twists so if you’re a fan of horror novels with lots of unexpected twists, I think you might enjoy this book.

Review:
I received Intoxication from Kim Kizer in exchange of an honest review.
Intoxication is a short novella that explores the psychological stability of Leslie who is sure one of her co-workers is trying to poison her coffee and that her boyfriend has drank that same coffee and ended up with indigestion. Leslie then decides she needs to find out who wants to kill her and why.
I really liked the novella and thought it accomplished its goal as a suspense thriller. It’s not easy to guess who the poisoner is and what the reason is for poisoning Leslie.
Leslie is a very good main character and you can almost feel her starting to go mad as she becomes less and less rational.
There’s a lot of plot in Intoxication considering it is a short story, which I really appreciate.
Hitchhiker was an interesting story as well. The plot was good and so was the mystery, suspense and horror in it.
Intoxication is a very unique story and fast that was able to keep me entertained and surprised.
If you like mystery and thriller I think you’ll definitely be able to enjoy this book.
