Review:
I received this book from the author in exchange on an honest review and I think this is perfect for young boys and girls.
In this book you are introduced to Scary School and each chapter focuses on one scenario or character in the school. The story is told by 11 years old Derek The Ghost and you’ll meet several crazy but interesting characters.
This book was able to keep me very entertained and the Scary School turned out to be a very fun and funny place.
As I said I found all the characters to be very interesting and funny. The book is well written and easy to read. I think young readers will definitely be able to enjoy it and let their imaginations fly.
Another thing I found very exciting in this book were the illustrations. Those illustrations combined with Derek’s narration were able to truly bring the story to life.
All in all, this is a fun, well-written and easy to read book. I think it is perfect for young readers but I’m sure older readers like myself will be able to enjoy it as well. J

My Book Boyfriend

My Book Boyfriend is a weekly meme, hosted by Missie at The Unread Reader. It is a weekly meme where we talk about a literary crush including stats, a picture of what you imagine he looks like and some quotes from him that make you swoon.  If you are interested in participating please check out the My Book Boyfriend Introduction Page over at Missie's blog The Unread Reader.

This week my book boyfriend is:

Lucas from Fated by Sarah Alderson

Stats

Status: Lucas is half humand and hal shadow warrior and Evie's love interest.

Age: 20

Height: Tall

Eyes: Grey

Hair: Black

More info:  Lucas is sent to kill Evie but he ends up caught in his own feelings...

"He had a thick shock of dark hair falling over his forehead, straight black eyebrows and cheekbones so sharp they cast shadows over the rest of his face."

“'And you. Have you ever been in love?' she suddenly asked. He looked up at her. Her blue eyes were scrutinising him closely.
He held her gaze. 'Once,' he answered, almost without thinking."

“'Thanks,' she said finally, to break the silence. 'But I didn't need rescuing.' Lucas laughed under his breath. 'I really didn't,' she said indignantly. If only he knew who she was. She wasn't a damsel in distress. She was a kickass Hunter they sent to rescue damsels.
'Well, I did,' he finally said. 'You left me with a pack of crazed schoolgirls.'

“'Does she know?' Jocelyn asked after a minute.
'Know what? That I love her or that I'm half Unhuman?' Lucas answered wryly.

Jocelyn arched an eyebrow in answer. '
No,' Lucas said finally. 'She doesn't know. And don't worry, I'm not about to tell her.' He was only just coming to terms with it himself. Falling in love with the enemy hadn't exactly been part of his plan."

So, I don't know who the model above is but Sarah Alderson used his picture once and I couldn't stop picturing him as Lucas. What do you think?

Review - Fracture by Megan Miranda

Title and Author: Fracture by Megn Miranda
Publisher: Walker Childrens
Publication Date: January 17th, 2012
Paperback/Hardcover: 262
Genre: Young Adult, Paranormal

Summary:
Eleven minutes passed before Delaney Maxwell was pulled from the icy waters of a Maine lake by her best friend Decker Phillips. By then her heart had stopped beating. Her brain had stopped working. She was dead. And yet she somehow defied medical precedent to come back seemingly fine. Everyone wants Delaney to be all right, but she knows she's far from normal. Pulled by strange sensations she can't control or explain, Delaney finds herself drawn to the dying. Is her altered brain now predicting death, or causing it?

Then Delaney meets Troy Varga, who recently emerged from a coma with similar abilities. At first she's reassured to find someone who understands the strangeness of her new existence, but Delaney soon discovers that Troy's motives aren't quite what she thought. Is their gift a miracle, a freak of nature-or something much more frightening?

Review:
I thought the blurb for Fracture was very interesting and that was what made me pick this book up. I’m glad I did because this is, indeed, a very exciting and different story.
Delaney should be dead after she falls under thin ice but she somehow – and thanks to her best friend - survived, even after 11 minutes submerged in ice cold water. Her MRIs show some brain damage but she seems to be completely fine.  The only problem is… She can now sense when others around her are about to die.
Then Delaney meets a college student named Troy who seems to know a lot about her and her new ability.
I think Delaney was a good main character. She’s, understandably, confused and wants to know exactly what’s happening to her. She wants to make things right but quickly finds out there are a few things she just can’t fight against.
I think Decker – Delaney’s best friend – was my favorite character. He was so great! He’s protective and considerate and, even though he too made several wrong decisions it’s obvious he really does love Delaney and just wants her to be safe and happy. I just wanted to hug him every time it became clear he blamed himself for Delaney’s accident.
Now, Troy was definitely a strange character. He could be quite creepy sometimes and I was never sure what to wait for from him.
I kept looking for an explanation for the connection between Delaney and Troy and their ability but you have to keep reading until the end for the big twist in this story!
All in all I really did enjoy this book. It’s well-written, different and entertaining. The characters in Fracture are interesting and the story is fast-paced.
There’s something for everyone in this book: mystery and adventure as well as a little romance.
Fracture is definitely a good psychological thriller any Young Adult and Paranormal fan will be able to enjoy.

Jodi Meadows Interview

Jodi Meadows, author of Incarnate, took the time to answer a few of my questions.
I hope you enjoy the interview:

1 – Tell us a little bit about yourself.
JM: I am a human. I write books.

2 - Incarnate’s story is very different and interesting. Where did you come up with the inspiration to write it?
JM: One of my ferrets whispered the story into my ear at night for a year. Finally I realized the only way I'd get sleep was if I wrote this book. That went well, until my ferret started whispering about a sequel.
(This answer may or may not be a lie.)

3 – If you were continually reincarnated do you think you would spend your time perfecting a specific skill or would you like to take on several different projects?
JM: Judging by the hobbies I have now . . . I'd probably get a zillion things on my list to do. More yarn projects, definitely. But I'd always come back to writing. Just think of how many books I could write!

4 - What would you like to be incarnated as?
J.M: A human. Or maybe a ferret. Or a bassoon!

5 – Which one of your characters did you enjoy writing about the most and why?
J.M: Besides Ana and Sam, probably Stef. I love how open and outgoing she is; she's not afraid to say what's on her mind. Plus, she's super smart.

6 – What do you find to be the most rewarding thing about writing? And what about the least rewarding?
J.M: Most rewarding is a tie between being able to make up stories for a living and getting letters from readers who loved INCARNATE.

Least rewarding? Taxes. Ugh.

7 – Which author or authors have inspired you the most?
J.M: Oh I have a whole list, but a handful who made a direct impact? Mary Downing Hahn, Robin McKinley, Tamora Pierce.

8 - Do you have any advice for aspiring writers?
J.M: Write a lot. Read a lot. Don't give up.

9 – What can you tell us about the sequel to Incarnate?
J.M: I was going to tell you all about the sequel, but then my agent took over my typing fingers and stopped me. If I try to tell you anything, who knows what will happen.

10 - Is there anything else you would like your readers to know?
J.M: Ferrets are mustelids, not rodents.

Thank you, Jodi!
