My Book Boyfriend

My Book Boyfriend is a weekly meme, hosted by Missie at The Unread Reader. It is a weekly meme where we talk about a literary crush including stats, a picture of what you imagine he looks like and some quotes from him that make you swoon.  If you are interested in participating please check out the My Book Boyfriend Introduction Page over at Missie's blog The Unread Reader.

This week my book boyfriend is:

Rusty from In Honor by Jessi Kirby

Stats

Status: Rusty was Honor's brother's bestfriend and she grew up with him. Their road trip proves that there are things about him Honor doesn't know, though.

Age: 19

Height: Tall

Eyes: Hazel

Hair: Sandy Brown

More info: Rusty plays college football, is laid back and a flirt. He can seem like a jerk sometimes but it's obvious he cared for Finn and wants the best for Honor. He's a true, loyal friend.

""I cut the engine and sat there a second after he walked to the hood, wondering what the heck had just happened in me to make me see him that way. Rusty. Finn’s best friend. Who was now shirtless, with his sandy hair grown out just enough to look like he didn’t care, and a stomach and set of shoulders that said he did. Oh, my good lord."

“Course you don’t. You weren’t the one left behind cryin’ while your brother and the friend who used to play Barbie-Legos with you ran off together and said you couldn’t come because you were too little. And a girl.”
“Barbie-Legos?”
“Yes, Barbie-Legos. You played it with me if Finn was doing something you didn’t want to do. You’d bring all your Lego guys over to my Barbie house, and they’d have pool parties and barbecues together.” I paused,
remembering something else. “And your  Lego guys were always trying to get my Barbies to go skinny-dipping.”
Rusty nearly spit out his sunflower seeds.
“Maybe I do remember that,” he said, laughing.

“I heard Rusty walk over to the driver’s side and waited to feel the seat bump when he sat down and settled in. Instead, I heard a zipper. I opened one eye and turned my head just in time to see Rusty standing behind the driver’s door, pulling his jeans down.
“What are you doing?”
I sat up and looked around, like I shouldn’t be seeing him or like someone else might see me see him and know how instantly hot it made my cheeks. Rusty didn’t answer. He was bent over, trying to get his foot out of one of his pant legs.
“What are you doing? You are drunk. Gimme the keys.”
He finally got the one foot out, then stood on it and pulled his jeans off the other leg. Then he bunched them up and threw them in the backseat, sat down behind the wheel so hard I bounced, and looked at me like I was the ridiculous one.
“I’m not drunk. It’s hotter than shit, we got a ways to go, and I’m sweatin’ balls.”
I didn’t really have a response for that.

“I walked over to a little area of smooth red rock that sloped gently down into the creek, kicked off my sandals, and shook my hair out behind me. Then, just like I’d done the daybefore, only a little slower and a lot more to
the point, I slid my shorts down my legs andpulled my tank top over my head. At least I was in an actual bikini this time. A cute little black one with pink trim that I was kinda proud to show off.
Rusty shook his head, his smile turning into a laugh.
“What?”
I asked, immediately on alert. Was I untied? Showing something I shouldn’t be? What?
“Nothin’,” he said, crossing his arms. Then he shook his head again. “I just keep forgetting.”
“Forgetting what?” I asked. My attempt at sassiness was crumbling into self-consciousness by the second, but I did my best to hang on to it. Or come up with something else to say that didn’t sound like such a lame comeon.
His eyes ran over me quick then leaped out to the water. “That you’re all grown up,” he said. “Guess I just keep for-getting."

Actor: Drew Van Acker

  5. I haven't read that one yet, and I don't want to be spoiled, so I refuse to read your quotes. But now I can picture a face when I read it!

So, basically I'm commenting on your post to say that I didn't read your post. Is that weird?
