Review:
I received this book as part of a blog tour in
exchange of an honest review.
Determined to live her life as she wants Ness
moves to Leeds to live with a friend and work at a call center. When she meets
Evan, a college student that embodies everything she hates about a guy, she
wants nothing to with him. However, Ness quickly realizes there’s much more to
Evan than just what meets the eye and finds herself more and more attracted to
him.
Because of Lucy might seem, to a certain extent,
your typical New Adult book about a cocky college guy and the girl that catches
his eye even though she’s not a fan of his attitude. Well, believe me, this
book is definitely not a cliché! Their relationship might not be as easy as
they both would hope for, though.
I really liked Ness in this book. She’s strong
and independent and smart. She knows what she wants and she definitely seems to
always make the right decision.
I quite liked Evan as well. He might seem
arrogant and easy going but he’s a really good person, loving and caring
underneath the façade he puts up for other people. He allows his life to be
affected by Lucy but that only made me like him more.
The relationship between Ness and Evan is not
always easy but it’s definitely real. There are ups and downs but, overall they
only make their relationship seem more believable and even solid.
I won’t say much about the plot because I don’t
want to give anything away but, what I can say is this: I thought the story was
very original and different. It was definitely a nice surprise.
All in all, Because of Lucy is a very interested
and well-written story. I loved the easy banter between Ness and Evan and how
the story developed.
If you are looking for a good and different New
Adult novel, give this book a try!
