Boring, but completely gorgeous. That was my first impression of him. My next two thoughts were ‘pompous ass’ and ‘cocky jerk.’ And, I had the glorious pleasure of sharing a table with him for the entire night. He didn’t speak, didn’t grunt….he just nodded and stared. ‘Absolutely beautiful’ was what I thought when I found her at my table at the Ad Execs quarterly dinner. She wore a black strapless dress and exuded confidence from every part of her. I nodded to her, but didn’t speak. I really didn’t have much to say anyway.
I couldn’t quit staring and had to excuse myself at one point to stand across the room and watch her. It was a strange, unwelcome feeling I was having about this stunning woman.
It had been five years….five years since Kristen…..and I still couldn’t move on. That kind of hurt you just don’t get over so easily and I wasn’t even sure that I wanted to get over it. But, here I was, completely intrigued and unable to stop thinking about Jen Bailey.

Jen and Rylan meet at a business dinner and while Jen isn’t exactly impressed by Rylan’s social skills, she is intrigued. Rylan is immediately attracted to Jen but he’s a tortured man and no matter how much he likes Jen, being with her won’t be easy.

I liked the characters in this book.  Jen is determined and successful but still has a few issues, which made her more real.

Rylan is one of those great, damaged heroes that I always seem to love. He’s still grieving when he meets Jen. He comes off as mysterious, cold and moody but he’s much more than just that.  And if he does act moody sometimes, he has reasons for it.

The relationship between Jen and Rylan developed very nicely, I think. Jen doesn’t know exactly what to think of Rylan at first but they eventually start to know each other and act upon their mutual attraction. Their relationship is not easy, though, and they have a lot of issues to deal with.

Another thing I also enjoyed the little mystery surrounding Rylan and all the emotional twists and turns the book offers.

All in all, I really did like Loving Her and thought it was an interesting story. The book is well-written and the plot was able to keep me entertained and curious.

If you like a good contemporary romance you should definitely give this book a try.
