Stephenie Meyer

This post about Stephenie Meyer was writen by Tamara from Tamara's Book Ramblings. I hope you like it!

STEPHENIE MEYER

Or, as I'd like to call her, the woman who changed my life, in a way, at least.
I still remember the day that I went to see Twilight in cinema. It was Tuesday, January the sixth, 2009. My mom, my sister and I went to see it after my sister saw it with her friend and loved it. Okay, little fast-forward. I was amazed with the movie. I was 12 at that time and I immediately went and bought the novel. Then the sequel. Then the third one. And, eventually, the last one, Breaking Dawn.
I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't obsessed with Twilight saga. Because it hooked me on reading, and eventually writing too. It all began with Twilight. And it could've been any other movie or book, but it wasn't. Why? Because Twilight had that something, mysterious and dangerous, but also so loveable and sweet. And look at its impact. Milions, yes, MILIONS of people love it. And I dare you to name me a person who hasn't heard of it. But okay, enough about that.
S. Meyer's writing is simple, but captivating. The story is always full of surprises, suspense, but also love. And happy endings, as Stephenie said, she has to have happy endings :)
Also, I'd like to talk about Stephenie's other work, not just Twilight ;) So, The Host, an adult SF novel for people who don't like SF. Okay, this totally didn't make sense. But, at first I was skeptical to read it, but one day, when I was at the library, the novel was just staring at me with that eye from the cover and I had to take it. And I loved it soooo much that I read it 10 times in one week. That's 600 pages times 10. In ONE WEEK. So basically you can say that I was blown away. And okay, it sounds crazy even to me now, but at that time I was so captivated by it that I just had to have more of Ian. (ha, now you have to read it to find out who he is). Anyway, The Host is supposed to be first in a trilogy, so I'm waiting patiently for more of Wanda's story :)
My point here, The Host didn't feel like an adult novel. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's childish, I'm saying that I could relate to the characters as if they were my age. So, to keep it short, I am very happy that Stephenie had that dream and made this whole saga that inspired me to read, read some more, and eventually to write.

Thank you, Tamara! :)

  1. I fell in love with Twilight the first time I read it. It was right before New Moon was going to be released. Once I read it, I was hooked. There's no going back. I wouldn't take it back either. It's opened me up to a world of wonderful YA novels.

  2. I didn't even want to read Twilight, but then I was fooled and hooked by the New Moon cover, and I am so glad of it - once I got started I couldn't stop.

"S. Meyer's writing is simple, but captivating. The story is always full of surprises, suspense, but also love. And happy endings, as Stephenie said, she has to have happy endings :)" - I completely agree, this is why I love her work.

I love The Host, too, can't wait for the sequel.

  3. I love Stephenie Meyer. She writes very nice. I had read Twilight before I see the movie and the truth is the movie was truly disappointing. I love the story, I love the characters even the secondary characters. Especially Edward, I think Stephenie Meyer has create the most interesting and lovely character.
    I haven't read The Host but I can't wait.

  4. I was in my late 30s when I read Twilight and now, in my early 40s, I still love the books and the movies. I really don't think that SM is a bad writer, as many have said. I think The Host was her writing at her best. I have not read Breaking Dawn yet, but will read it before the movie comes out. =O)
